Enquire about wholesaleEstablished in 1986, our family business combines generations of knitwear knowledge with modern manufacturing at Ladylaw Mill in Hawick. We work with designers and retailers to resolve yarn selection, gauge, stitch structure, shaping and finishing, translating each design into a specification that can be sampled, graded and produced consistently.

We translate design briefs into production specifications, advising on yarn suitability, gauge, stitch structure, shaping and construction throughout development.
Development & productionWe knit in 7, 8 and 12 gauge, with intarsia in 8 and 12 gauge. Our stitch and finishing libraries support decisions on texture, shape and construction.
We work with cashmere, merino, lambswool and blended yarns from established spinners including Todd & Duncan, Loro Piana and Cariaggi. Yarn selection accounts for fibre properties, count, gauge, stitch definition and the required finished handle.
Integrated buttonholes, pockets and plackets are considered during programming and sampling, alongside collar attachment, linking and trim construction.
Approved samples and graded specifications establish the basis for production. We agree quantities, colourways and delivery plans before scheduling each order.

Once specifications, yarn, quantities and terms are agreed, we schedule knitting and finishing in Hawick and confirm the delivery plan for the order.

Yes. We develop and manufacture private-label womenswear, menswear and accessories for designer brands and retailers, using cashmere, merino, lambswool and blended yarns.
For knitwear collections, our published guideline is an average of 75 units per style developed across the collection. Quantities can be split across sizes, colours and agreed deliveries. Re-orders are available with small minimums. Please discuss your project with us so we can confirm the quantities for each style.

Yes. Indicative development fees are approximately £750 for a new garment style, £250 for an accessory style and £500 for a WHOLEGARMENT accessory style, excluding VAT. Exact fees depend on the project and are subject to our written quotation, with payment in advance unless agreed otherwise in writing.
The fee covers initial technical development and programming. Prototype making, materials and size grading are separate unless agreed in writing. Changes and further development may incur additional charges. Read the full sample development terms (PDF).
Our stitch structure library is available to support customer development projects. We advise on yarn suitability, gauge, construction and finishing when selecting structures for production.
Outside peak periods, sampling generally takes 2–3 weeks once the specification, yarn and development requirements are complete. Re-orders typically take 4–6 weeks. Lead times are subject to yarn availability and production capacity and are confirmed for each project.

We review the brief before confirming development requirements and a quotation. Customer identities and designs are treated with discretion.
Yes. We assess each garment for repair and redress according to its yarn, construction and condition. Contact us with details of the garment and the work required so we can advise on suitability.
